Overall objective:
Reinforcement of patient security and care quality in particular for all the transfusion patients in the entire country via voluntary blood donation promotion campaigns and the improvement of the protocol on the blood check in the National Transfusion Center
Main activities of the project:
- Realisation of voluntary and free blood donation promotion campaigns and promotion of the voluntary blood donation culture to the young people;
- Creating a new algorithm for the testing and voluntary blood donations and introducing other tests for the infective markers for hepatitis B and C in order to guarantee more blood security in Albania;
- Preparation of the instructions for the appropriate clinical use of the blood/components and the organisation of an education course for the health employees;
- Supply of a initial stock of reagents for the experimental application of the blood tests for anti-HBs and anti-HBc (on 9000 voluntary donations) in order to discover hidden hepatitis.
